FATE; Dreams, Belief and Meaning
Lull is an annual print magazine and visual arts showcase based in Oakland. This project was founded by freelance creative director Monica Greenwald as a way to share in common burdens, work lulls, anxiety, life hurdles or setbacks from creative potential and personal expression. Each issue manifests by combining contributing image makers with stories to tell and challenge each with esoteric and existential themes outside of their commissioned work.
For the 2019 premiere issue of Lull titled FATE, three visual artists made works inspired by the re-imagining of Tarot archetypes and their meaning in the Major Arcana. Featuring photography by Heather McGrath in The Scavenger series, illustration by Olivia M. Healy in The Seeker series, plus films, animation and sound design by Ethan Indorf in The Surrendered series.
